Hearts of Oak legend, Dan Quaye has strongly advocated for local goalkeepers to be included in the senior men national team and he gave his reasons for that in a recent interview.

In the recent Black Stars call-up, Asante Kotoko current first-choice goalie Frederick Asare was included in the squad but couldn't get the opportunity to feature in any of the matches.

The Ghanaian topflight also had another exciting goalkeepers like Medeama's Felix Kyei, Ibrahim Danlad, Richard Attah, Benjamin Asare and others who are all doing incredibly well with thier respective clubs.

Speaking in a recent interview on Takoradi-based Connect FM, the former Black Stars defender feels the goalkeepers in the Black Stars have been there for years now and none has proven to be reliable for the country and with that he thinks it's time to test the home-based once.

"Our goalkeepers keep committing errors in games.

“If you look at the local league, we have some good goalkeepers who are performing very well like Asante Kotoko’s Frederick Asare and Medeama SC’s Felix Kyei, all deserve a chance because we’ve seen what Jojo Wollacott and Lawrence Ati-Zigi can offer."

The Black Stars will regroup in June to play Mali and Central African Republic in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
