In response to the departure of Professor Twumasi, the Presidency has appointed Mr. Dodzie Numekevor as the interim Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA).

The appointment, formalized by Secretary to the President Nana Bediatuo Asante on February 26, 2024, provides Mr. Numekevor with a 14-day window to accept the role.

Professor Twumasi's removal stemmed from a summons to the Jubilee House for questioning on various matters, where his appeal for clemency was unsuccessful. His termination was communicated to the board approximately two weeks ago, indicating a definitive shift in leadership at the NSA.

Despite his efforts to persuade the appointing authority to retain him, Professor Twumasi's sacking was confirmed in a recent communique to the board. His tenure as Director General began on December 10, 2018, following the resignation of Robert Sarfo Mensah amidst allegations related to the 'Number 12' exposé by Anas Aremeyaw Anas and Tiger Eye PI.

In tandem with these changes, key regional NSA officials have been reassigned to the head office in Accra. Notable among them are Salamatu Alhassan from the Northern Region, Alexander Tiiku from the Central Region, Emmanuel Appiah from the Ashanti Region, and Daniel Sarpei from the Volta Region, indicating a broader restructuring within the organization.
