Former Manchester United striker Dwight Yorke has expressed interest in coaching the Ghana senior men national team as the search for a new Black Stars head coach continues.

After series of reports linking Senegalese gaffer Pape Thiaw, the next to appear on the next possible successor is the former European treble winner.

The 54-year-old Trinidad and Tobago legend enjoyed a successful playing career, winning the UEFA Champions League, three Premier League titles and the FA Cup during his time at Manchester United.

Yorke was part of Sir Alex Ferguson’s famous treble-winning team in the 1998/99 season, when the Red Devils won the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League. He also formed a formidable attacking partnership with fellow striker Andy Cole.

Beyond his achievements on the pitch, Yorke has acquired the coaching qualifications required to work at the highest level. He holds a UEFA Pro Licence, the highest coaching qualification in European football.

His coaching education included the UEFA A and B licences, which provided him with a formal foundation for a career in management. He also worked with Manchester United’s youth set-up at Carrington while pursuing his coaching development.

Yorke was in charge of Trinidad and Tobago just recently and has now expressed strong interest at a crucial time where Ghana looks to appoint a new head coach to lead the Black Stars following the departure of Carlos Queiroz.
