Nations FC forward Emmanuel Annor says the team’s poor start to the league season pushed them to focus on winning the MTN FA Cup and reach a historic final.

Annor was speaking to Joy Sports after scoring the winning goal in a 1–0 semi-final victory over Aduana FC at the Swedru Sports Stadium on Friday.

He explained that after a difficult beginning to their Ghana Premier League campaign, the players decided to shift their attention to the FA Cup in a bid to rescue their season.

The Pride of Abrankese struggled for steady results early in the league, which made the club hire a new head coach, Frimpong Manso.

“It’s really important for us because we all know we didn’t start the league very well,” Annor said.

“So, we channeled everything into this FA Cup. Throughout the week, we’ve been having a lot of discussions amongst ourselves, and glory be to God, it happened today.”

Annor’s decisive goal arrived in the eighth minute, giving Nations FC an early lead that they defended with discipline for the rest of the match.

Under the guidance of coach Frimpong Manso, Nations FC showed strong resilience to withstand late pressure from Aduana and secure the narrow win.

The result sends Nations FC into the final of Ghana’s oldest knockout competition for the first time in their history.

After overcoming their early-season struggles, the club now stands close to winning its first major trophy and could also earn a place in the CAF Confederation Cup if they lift the trophy.
