Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has opened the door to a possible challenge for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) presidency in 2027, although he insists he is yet to make a final decision.
The 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup winner revealed in an interview with Accra-based Onua TV that he remains eligible to contest for the position and has not ruled out entering the race for the leadership of Ghana football.
“Don’t be surprised if I also decide to contest for the presidency, even though I have not made a decision yet,” Badu said.
The comments come at a time when speculation continues to grow over possible candidates ahead of the 2027 GFA presidential elections, including former Black Stars teammate André Ayew.
Ayew recently disclosed during an interview with former Nigeria captain John Obi Mikel that he had received encouragement from some football stakeholders to consider contesting for the position.
However, the experienced forward explained that he would only address the matter when the time is right.
With the next GFA presidential election drawing closer, the possibility of former Black Stars players entering the race could bring a new dimension to the contest as Ghana football prepares for a potential change in leadership.
Badu, who enjoyed a successful international career with the Black Stars and was part of Ghana’s squad at multiple major tournaments, could become one of the prominent figures seeking to influence the future direction of the country’s football administration.
