Former Ghana international Nii Odartey Lamptey has called on Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku to make significant changes within his administration amid growing concerns over the direction of Ghana football.

Lamptey, while expressing his support for the GFA president, believes strained relationships with some stakeholders have contributed to the challenges facing Okraku’s leadership.

“I love Kurt, but he has created enemies for himself and they want his downfall,” Lamptey said.

The former Black Stars forward also questioned the support system around the GFA boss, suggesting that some people close to him are not doing enough to help address the problems affecting Ghana football.

He urged Okraku to recognise the need for adjustments, warning that failure to make changes could prolong the difficulties facing the sport.

“Until Kurt realises he has to change many things, things will continue to go against him. Everyone is complaining.”

Lamptey further explained that building unnecessary opposition can affect a leader’s ability to succeed.

“When you create enemies for yourself, it affects the work you are doing. That is what is happening to Ghana Football now.”

His comments come amid increased scrutiny of the GFA following the Black Stars’ poor start to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, with Ghana losing their opening two Group C matches against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia.
