Former Ghana international, Derek Boateng, is appreciative of the work Kwesi Nyantakyi, former Ghana FA president did during his time in office.
The former Fulham player went ahead to reveal his strength of feeling for the return of the former football administrator and astute lawyer, stating his achievements as GFA boss can never be overlooked.
"I wish Nyantakyi could return to oversee Ghana Football. His achievements are well-documented, and it's unfortunate how his time ended," Boateng said in an interview with Shiashie-based Kingdom FM.
"I can’t comment on the validity of the accusations against him since I wasn’t there, but his impact on the sport is undeniable," Boateng added.
Under Nyantakyi's presidency, Ghana qualified for the 2006 FIFA World Cup, the first for the country. Ghana again qualified for the subsequent 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa and the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The Ghana U-20 football team also won Africa's first and only U-20 World Cup also during his stewardship in 2009.
