Former head coach of Accra Great Olympics, Annor Walker has lifted the lid on the behind-the-scenes maneuvering that led to the signing of Black Stars goalkeeper Benjamin Asare.

The 32-year-old Hearts of Oak shot-stopper endeared himself to the Oly Dade fans during his playing days at the club.

However, Annor Walker said the Black Stars no.1 rise is no surprise after going out his way to assist him financially to get him to focus on the game as he believed in the goalkeeper's potential.

"There were financial challenges, but I told him I would support him," Walker told Takoradi-based Oil City Radio.

"We always say God's time is the best, so I believe this is the right time for Benjamin Asare."

Asare has earned massive praises from football fans around the world after his exceptional performance for Ghana's senior national team during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar, where he attained clean sheets in both games.
