Black Stars captain Jordan Ayew has released a statement to mainly thank Ghanaians for their unending support in the just ended March international window and assured of always giving their all to bring them joy

The Black Stars despite missing out on the 2025 AFCON, have given a very good account of themselves in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and are currently on top of Group I with a five-point lead after six matches.

Ghana destroyed Chad by an emphatic 5-0 last Friday in Accra in round 5, before subsequently humbling second-place Madagascar by 3-0 last night in Al Hoceima, Morocco, to brighten their qualification chances.

In a statement released last night, the team's new substantive captain Jordan Ayew spoke on behalf of the entire players were they expressed gratitude to Ghanaians and added that they are focused on qualifying to the next World Cup. 

“We'll do everything in our power to make Ghana proud and bring joy to your hearts,”

“We're not giving up! We're focused on the task ahead, and we're confident that together, we can achieve our goal,” the captain of the Black Stars said.

Ghana's next game in the World Cup qualifiers is a visit to Chad in match-day 7 on September 1, 2025.
