Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko will now have to team up with Medeama SC to face Major League Soccer side DC United in the Capital City Africa Cup in Washington DC this weekend, per reports in the local media.
Initially, the Porcupine Warriors were supposed to face the Black and Red Eagles alone just as Medeama SC did last season and earned that spot after beating bitter rivals Hearts of Oak to win the maiden Democracy Cup in July.
But it turns out that can't happen since the club struggled to secure visas for most of their players making it extremely difficult to a parade a squad for the dream game coming up.
The Reds will now join force with the Mauves and Yellows to establish a team for the game since they were there last year and that will make it much more easier in getting visas for their players.
This game is actually a ceremonial one to celebrate the 2024 Ghana Week in DC and is organised by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) in collaboration with the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The game is slated for this Saturday, October 12, at DC United's home grounds- Audi Field.
