James Kwesi Appiah has announced he is temporarily leaving as member of the Executive Council position of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
On Monday, the former Ghana coach was officially asked to resign by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) from one of his roles before the Ghana versus Sudan game.
Appiah is currently the head coach of the Sudanese men's national team and also doubles as an Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
According to CAF, this is to stop any conflict of interest ahead of the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers.
Appiah's spokesman, Asante Forkuo, said; "Coach Kwasi Appiah has temporarily stepped aside as an Executive Council member of the GFA until the end of November 2024. This decision, in response to the CAF communication copied to the GFA, was made to prevent any conflict of interest. Since the AFCON qualifiers began, Appiah has refrained from participating in all EXCO activities."
Appiah was elected to ascend to the Ghana FA Executive Council position - representing Asante Kotoko.
Meanwhile, Ghana will host Sudan on 10th October at Accra Sports Stadium before travelling to Benina, Libya for the return leg on October 14.
