Black Stars midfielder Daniel-Kofi Kyereh is set to make his return to the national team ahead of Ghana’s double-header against Somalia in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The VfL Osnabrück forward has arrived at the Accra International Airport ahead of the upcoming assignment, with his expected inclusion marking his first Black Stars call-up in more than three years.

Kyereh’s return follows a difficult period away from the game after he suffered a serious anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in February 2023 while playing for German Bundesliga side SC Freiburg. The injury required surgery and kept him out of competitive football for an extended period.

His absence was a major setback after he had established himself as an exciting attacking option for Ghana, offering creativity, movement, technical quality and an eye for goal.

The 30-year-old gradually worked his way back through appearances for SC Freiburg II before joining German third-tier outfit VfL Osnabrück in August 2026. He has since registered two goals and one assist in nine appearances.

His expected return to the Black Stars represents a significant milestone in his recovery and gives Ghana another attacking option ahead of the two qualifiers against Somalia.
