Nations FC booked their place in the semi-final of this season’s MTN FA Cup after defeating Berekum Chelsea 4-3 via penalty shootouts following a goalless draw in their quarter-final clash at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.
The all-Ghana Premier League encounter produced a tight contest, with both teams showing strong defensive organisation throughout the game in Bechem.
Clear-cut chances were limited as Nations FC and Berekum Chelsea struggled to break each other down, having struggled in most situations for penetration during the 90 minutes of regulation time.
The stalemate persisted into extra time, where both sides remained cautious and unable to find the precious goal to send the game to penalty shootouts.
Nations FC subsequently won 4-3 in the shootouts thanks to the heroics of goalkeeper Rabin Sanon to cruise into the semi-final of the competition.
