Medeama SC defender, Abdul Fatawu Hamidu has expressed excitement after making his Black Stars debut and described that feeling as a very great one.

The 24-year-old was handed a late call-up in the last international window to replace Baba Rahman who picked up an injury after the game against Central African Republic.

He was handed his debut in a 3-1 win against Liberia in an international friendly in Accra- in a game he lasted the entire duration of the game.

In an interview on his Black Stars experience, the lanky lateral has admitted he felt so much pressure at the beginning but settled down very well subsequently and feels happy to finally represent the national colours.

"Being in the national camp is something that we all wanted to experience. For me, I might say there is a lot of pressure over there but I thank God, I was able to settle in well with the prayers of my supporters, Dad and mum."

“The experience I got over there was massive. It is good for me to experience these kinds of pressure over there” he said.

“The feeling was good. Being in the starting lineup was something huge for me. I was happy being on the pitch with my teammates. It was a good feeling because I experienced something. At the beginning of the game, there was pressure but as the game progressed, everything became perfect. Truth be told, I was so happy playing my first game for the Black Stars.”

He has from then, enjoyed full throttle for Medeama SC against Horoya AC in the CAF Champions League and their opening GPL game against Accra Lions last Wednesday.
