Aduana FC General Manager Takyi Arhin believes Ghana should rely more on home-based players, claiming many of the Black Stars' foreign-based players do not show the same level of commitment during Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Speaking on Sporty FM, Arhin argued that while Ghana's foreign-based players perform well during FIFA World Cup qualifiers, their attitude and performances differ significantly when it comes to AFCON qualification.

“The ‘borgas’ in the Black Stars are not prepared to take us to the AFCON, so it's time to focus on having more local players in the national team.”

The experienced football administrator urged the technical team to give more opportunities to outstanding Ghana Premier League players, insisting they have the desire and commitment to represent the country.

“Just look at how they [foreign players] play in the World Cup qualifiers compared to the AFCON qualifiers.”

Arhin's comments come after the Black Stars suffered back-to-back defeats to Côte d'Ivoire and The Gambia in the opening matches of the 2027 AFCON qualifiers, leaving Ghana bottom of Group C without a point.
