Former Ghana international Laryea Kingston has emerged as the latest candidate interested in becoming the next head coach of the Black Stars.

Kingston, is currently working with Uganda’s junior national teams after signing a two-year contract with the Federation of Uganda Football Associations in October 2025.

His role covers Uganda’s U-15, U-17 and U-20 teams, giving him experience working across different levels of the country’s youth football structure.

The former midfielder’s interest comes as the Ghana Football Association and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation search for a replacement for Carlos Queiroz, who left his position after the September international window.

A five-member search committee has been established to identify, assess and recommend a suitable candidate for the vacant position, with former GFA vice-president Fred Pappoe serving as chairman.

Kingston is not new to Ghana’s national teams, having previously coached the Black Starlets. During his playing career, he made 37 appearances for the Black Stars and could now be looking to return to the senior national team in a coaching capacity.
