The 2023/24 Ghana FA Cup commenced this midweek with some expected and surprising outcomes produced in the first round.
Nine-time champions Asante Kotoko kicked off the competition last Tuesday with an emphatic 4-2 win over regional rivals Nations FC to advance to the next stage.
Fast-forward on Wednesday, grand masters Hearts of Oak at Pobiman, surprisingly got eliminated by 2011 winners Nania FC via penalty shootouts.
Berekum Chelsea on the other hand, also exhibited a gallant performance to humble Aduana Stars by 1-2 in Dormaa to join the only seven topflight clubs to advance to round 32.
Clubs like Nsoatreman FC, Bofoakwa Tano, Legon Cities, Great Olympics have all sailed through.
However, Medeama SC and Dreams FC have been excused due to special reasons and will have to honour their matches later.
