Ghana Football Association Communications Director Henry Asante Twum has expressed strong confidence that Marvin Senaya will choose to represent Ghana, despite also receiving a call-up from Togo for the same international window.
The AJ Auxerre right-back has been named in Ghana’s squad for upcoming friendlies against Austria and Germany, while Togo national football team have also included him for matches against Guinea and Niger.
Addressing the situation, Asante Twum stressed that the FA would not have named the 25-year-old without his consent.
“Without a player’s word, it would be unprofessional to announce a squad when the player hasn’t agreed… there is that assurance that he would make it,” he told TV3.
He further revealed that discussions with Senaya have been ongoing for some time, adding that the player has already given his commitment to Ghana.
Senaya, who qualifies for both countries through his Ghanaian heritage and his father, Yao Mawuko Senaya, is yet to make a senior international appearance.
