The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has extended the deadline for applications for the vacant Black Stars head coach position to October 15, 2026, giving interested candidates additional time to submit their applications.
The extension was announced on Friday, October 9, following the search for a new coach to lead Ghana’s senior national team after the departure of Carlos Queiroz.
The GFA had initially set October 9 as the deadline for applications, but the new date gives the association six more days to receive applications from prospective candidates.
The coaching position became vacant after Queiroz resigned on October 1, following Ghana’s disappointing start to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, which included defeats to Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia.
A five-member search committee chaired by Fred Pappoe is leading the process of identifying a suitable successor. The committee also includes former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah, Anthony Baffoe, Faisal Chibsah and Agbesi Dzakpasu.
The next appointment will be crucial for Ghana as the Black Stars seek to recover from their poor start to the AFCON qualifiers and rebuild ahead of upcoming international assignments.
