The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has extended the deadline for applications for the vacant Black Stars head coach position to October 15, 2026.

The decision was announced on Friday, October 9, following consultations between the GFA, the Ministry of Sports and Recreation and the Black Stars Coach Search Committee.

The extension gives interested candidates more time to apply as the committee searches for a successor to Carlos Queiroz, who left the role on October 1.

“To ensure that the widest possible pool of suitably qualified candidates is available for consideration, the application deadline for the position of Black Stars Head Coach has been extended to 15th October 2026,” the GFA said in a statement.

The committee will continue reviewing applications, interviewing candidates and preparing a shortlist before submitting its final recommendation.

Former GFA vice-president Fred Pappoe chairs the five-member committee, which includes Stephen Appiah, Anthony Baffoe, Agbesi Dzakpasu and Faisal Chibsah.

An interim technical team will take charge of the Black Stars during the November international window.
