Hearts of Oak after a long-while have finally humbled their eternal rivals Asante by 2-0 to wrap up their 2025 GHALCA Top 4 campaign.
The Rainbow Club really meant business right from onset having made a very explosive start to the game leaving their opponents to only chase shadows.
Hearts of Oak played delightfully having taken the lead in just four minutes from kickoff through Frank Duku who struck in between the legs of goalkeeper Mohammed after a great team build-up having completed 15 passes in the process.
Both teams continued brawling against each other and made series of goal incursions but lacked sharpness in attack as all their efforts proved futile with no goal registered again until half-time.
In the second half, the ‘Phobians’ nearly scored again in just eight minutes but Martin Karikari had his half volley effort tipped off the crossbar brilliantly by Mohammed Camara.
The Porcupine Warriors never relented and kept on pushing as well in search of the precious leveller but struggled in most situations to break into their opponents’ back line
Finally in the 73rd minute, Hearts of Oak doubled their lead from a corner kick courtesy Emmanuel Amankwah who headed into the net from a close range to send the Phobians at the Legon Stadium in raptures.
Despite winning to produce two open play wins, Bibiani GoldStars have been crowned the champions of the competition on head to head basis.
All four teams will use this mini competition to identify their strengths and weaknesses which they will definitely work on it before the commencement of the 2025/26 football season.
