The Black Stars' recent abysmal performance keeps affecting its position in the FIFA World Rankings, dropping four places on November's rankings released by the world football governing body.

Ghana has dropped to 77th position in the FIFA World Rankings unveiled by FIFA on November 28, 2024, following the team's poor performance at the international stage.

The senior national team of Ghana is currently one of the worst performing countries in Africa, and the team failed to secure a qualification to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

Ghana missed out on the next edition of the AFCON after finishing at the bottom of Group F with just three points and failed to secure a win from the six matches as Angola and Sudan booked themselves a ticket to the continental showpiece.

In a similar situation, Ghana missed out on the 2004 AFCON and picked its worst-ever rank in the country's football history, which was 89th position.

The next FIFA rankings will be released on December 12, 2024, and the Black Stars will not be in action until March 2025 for the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar. There will be no international break for countries until next year.

With the Africa rankings, Ghana currently sits at 14th position after recording only one point from two games played during the final round of qualification for the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers against Angola and Niger.

Niger rose more ranks than anyone else owing to their exploits in Africa Cup of Nations qualifying, in which they mustered back-to-back wins: a 4-0 victory over Sudan followed by a 2-1 away victory against Ghana in Accra.
