The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has introduced a major change to the FA Cup final, with the championship decider set to be played over two legs from the 2026/27 season.

The final has traditionally been played in a one-off fixture, but the new format will see the finalists meet twice to determine the winner of the competition.

According to the GFA competition schedule, the first leg of the 2026/27 FA Cup final is scheduled for June 5–6, 2027, with the return leg set for June 12–13, 2027.

The change means both finalists will have the opportunity to host one of the two matches, replacing the previous single-match format used to crown the FA Cup champions.

The new arrangement adds another stage to the competition’s final and is expected to make the battle for the trophy even more competitive, with the two teams needing to perform across both legs.

The eventual FA Cup winners will also earn the right to represent Ghana in the CAF Confederation Cup, giving the two-legged final added importance as clubs battle for both domestic silverware and continental football.
