Aduana FC General Manager Takyi Arhin ‘Thunder’ has defended Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku, insisting that football clubs and administrators remain appreciative of his leadership.
Arhin believes Okraku’s work should not be judged solely by the performance of the Black Stars, arguing that the GFA president has made significant contributions to domestic football development.
Speaking on Sporty FM, the Aduana FC chief said clubs have benefited from various forms of support under Okraku’s administration.
“As football clubs and football administrators, we’re so much in love with Kurt Okraku for everything he’s done for us,” Arhin said.
He pointed to financial and logistical assistance provided to clubs, including support packages for Ghana Premier League and lower-division teams.
“Who thought that we’d wake up one morning and get GH¢1 million, Division One clubs would have GH¢120,000, boots, footballs, jerseys and free fuel coupons,” he added.
Arhin’s comments come at a time when Okraku has faced growing criticism following the Black Stars’ poor start to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Ghana suffered defeats against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia in their opening Group C matches, increasing calls for accountability within the country’s football leadership.
However, Arhin believes the GFA president’s overall record should be assessed beyond the national team’s results.
“I don’t see why people should use Black Stars as a yardstick to measure Kurt Okraku,” he said.
The Aduana FC administrator maintained that the GFA’s role extends beyond the Black Stars and includes managing competitions, supporting clubs and developing the wider football ecosystem.
With debates continuing over the future direction of Ghana football, Takyi Arhin remains one of the prominent voices backing Okraku’s administration.
