Ghana Football Association President, Kurt Okraku is very pleased with the just ended football season and believes the Ghanaian is gradually thriving to the highest echelon.
The 2022/23 Ghana football season was wrapped up finally over the weekend with Medeama SC emerging as winners of the Premier League- their first ever glory and Western Region's first ever champion since 1977.
In the national first division championship, Bofoakwa Tano FC, Nations FC and Kpando Heart of Lions have all won the various zones and will play in the topflight next season.
In women football, Hasaacas Ladies won the Southern Zone whiles Ampem Darkoa conquered the Northern Zone- with the latter beating the former on penalties to win the ultimate.
In an interview with StarTimes after Medeama's trophy coronation, Kurt Okraku stated the Ghanaian game saw high level of quality football in the just-finished season and believes the game is gradually reaching the highest level.
“It has been unbelievable, surpassing all expectations. Today, we have made a definitive statement that we have a deep passion for our sports. We cherish our Ghana Premier League, and it remains vibrant."
“The season we have witnessed has been an incredible journey. It provided us all with the opportunity to savor football played at the highest level of quality. Until the last minutes of our game on the final day, everyone was on edge. Ghana football is thriving."
