Ghana defender Alidu Seidu has called on the Black Stars to secure a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, stressing the need to restore the nation’s standing on the global stage.

The right-back who is returning to the national squad after recovering from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, will feature in the decisive qualifiers against the Central African Republic and Comoros later this month.

Speaking to Flashscore.com, Seidu emphasised the urgency of the task ahead.

“We must qualify for the World Cup,” he said. “Ghana is a big football nation, and missing AFCON was disappointing. We need patience, but with the young players coming through, we’ll be a strong and difficult team to beat in the coming years.”

The Black Stars opened camp on Sunday in Casablanca, Morocco, ahead of the crucial fixtures. Ghana will first face the Central African Republic at the Stade d’Honneur de Meknès on Wednesday, October 8, before returning home to Accra to host Comoros in their final qualifying match.
