Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has urged Ghana to give more opportunities to local players as the team looks to recover from a difficult start to the 2027 AFCON qualifiers.
Ghana have lost their first two Group C matches, suffering a 2-0 defeat to Côte d’Ivoire before going down 4-2 to The Gambia on home soil at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The setbacks have raised concerns over Ghana’s campaign, but Agyemang-Badu believes the team still has the chance to bounce back in their upcoming fixtures.
“I’m optimistic that the Black Stars might win their next games,” he told Ahenfie Sports, expressing hope that Ghana can improve their results.
The former international also stressed the need to consider players performing in the domestic league as the national team works towards a turnaround.
“Let’s give local players the chance they deserve,” he added, calling for home-based talents to receive opportunities to represent the country.
The Black Stars will need to improve their results in the remaining qualifiers to keep their hopes of reaching the 2027 AFCON alive, with the inclusion of local players also likely to feature in discussions about the team’s rebuilding process.
