Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren is expected to take charge of the Black Stars on an interim basis ahead of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Somalia in November, according reports from reliable sources.

The Swedish gaffer is expected to work alongside Godwin Attram and Ibrahim Tanko as Ghana prepare for their next two qualifiers following a disappointing start to the campaign.

Ghana are searching for a new head coach after Carlos Queiroz resigned following consecutive defeats to Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia in their opening Group C matches.

The search for a permanent successor is still ongoing, with the Ghana Football Association working to identify a coach to lead the senior national team.

Ibrahim Tanko, previously served as an assistant coach under Otto Addo and Queiroz before taking charge of Ghana’s Olympic team, the Black Meteors.

Godwin Attram, meanwhile, was appointed as Queiroz’s second assistant ahead of Ghana’s opening AFCON qualifying matches and is expected to bring his experience to the interim technical setup.

The committee to bring in a new coach are also working tirelessly to find a suitable person for the Black Stars vacant role before the end of the year.
