More than 400 coaches have applied for the vacant Black Stars head coach position, according to former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director Ibrahim Sannie Daara.

Ghana are searching for a new manager following the departure of Carlos Queiroz, who left the position after the team suffered consecutive defeats in their opening two matches of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Black Stars lost to Côte d’Ivoire before suffering a 4-2 defeat to The Gambia, leaving the team under pressure in Group C and prompting the search for a new head coach.

Sannie Daara confirmed the number of applicants, explaining that many of the coaches see Ghana as an attractive destination because of the country’s football reputation.

“More than 400 coaches have applied for the Black Stars job,” he said.

A five-member committee formed by the GFA and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation is responsible for recommending a successor to Queiroz, with its report expected to be submitted on Thursday.
