Chris Hughton, the head coach of the Black Stars, has provided his assessment of striker Hafiz Konkoni following his observation of the player during training sessions.
Konkoni, who represents Bechem United, is the only local player included in the Black Stars squad for the upcoming AFCON qualifier against Madagascar.
During a press conference on Tuesday, as the team prepares for the crucial Group E match, Coach Chris Hughton expressed his satisfaction with Hafiz Konkoni's performance in training.
He mentioned that he had the opportunity to watch Konkoni play live over the weekend and had also reviewed video footage of his performances. Hughton was pleased with the young player's showing in training and commented on his maturity and potential for further development.
“I was fortunate to watch him live last weekend. I have been able to watch him on video. I thought he did well today [in training]. It wasn’t a surprise because he is a player I have enjoyed watching. He is a young player so I think he has a lot of development still. Speaking to him I think he is quite a mature player for his age,” Chris Hughton shared.
With the match against Madagascar scheduled for Sunday, June 18, Hafiz Konkoni will be hopeful of getting the chance to represent the Black Stars on the field.
