Former Ghana international Yaw Preko has disclosed that despite playing for Hearts of Oak, he considers himself a fan of arch-rivals Asante Kotoko "by blood”.
He revealed in an interview with ETV that his deep-rooted love for Asante Kotoko is an integral part of his family heritage, with every member passionately supporting the club.
Preko, who was regarded as a great asset to Ghana Football in the early 90s, was signed by Hearts of Oak from defunct Powerlines FC at age 16.
“Everyone in my family supports Asante Kotoko, I grew up in an Asante Kotoko household. Formerly when Hearts of Oak beat Kotoko, I starve myself because the feeling was hurtful." Preko told ETV
Preko managed to notch up nine goals in 31 appearances for Hearts of Oak before leaving for Belgian Jupilier League side RSC Anderlecht.
He was part of the Black Starlets squad that won the 1993 FIFA U-17 World Cup tournament.
