Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Abdul Karim Zito has expressed elation towards his side’s Champion of Champions win stating he’s never doubted the quality of his players.

The Porcupine Warriors exhibited a stupendous performance to narrowly edge Bibiani GoldStars by 0-1 in a very fascinating  encounter at the Dun’s Park.

The game was a very difficult one as both teams played well by taking the game at each other but struggled to find the net until substitute Musah Hamzata scored what made the difference in the 68th minute

The victory meant so much to the ‘Kum Apem’ lads who have come under a huge scrutiny recently following their abysmal run in the Top 4 tournament and will hope to build on this momentum going forward

Speaking with TV3 after the game, the experienced trainer stated fatigue was the reason they dipped in performance recently as they haven’t really had enough rest and added they will bounce back stronger to compete in Africa and for the league

“The schedule was bad for us. We have been busy, when other clubs were resting so definitely I didn’t expect something too good from our players. We started picking up from the second half against Hearts

“I told my players that I trust then to  go and win the Champion of Champions.”

Asante Kotoko will face Nigerian side Kwara United in the first preliminary round of the 2025/26 CAF Champions League.
