Medeama head coach Ibrahim Tanko expressed his satisfaction after his side booked their place in the Round of 16 of the MTN FA Cup with a 3–1 victory over Bibiani Goldstars.
The Yellow and Mauves produced a disciplined and energetic performance, with Tanko quick to praise the collective effort that carried them through a demanding Round of 32 encounter.
Medeama made a bright start and were rewarded in the 27th minute when striker Kingsley Braye opened the scoring. The forward struck again just before halftime to give the hosts a commanding two-goal cushion at the break.
Bibiani Goldstars responded after the restart and pulled one back in the 52nd minute through Gideon Anaba, as it briefly raised their hopes of a comeback.
Medeama, however, controlled proceedings and restricted the Miners from penetrating while continuing to press for a third goal.
That moment arrived late on, as Braye completed his hat-trick in the 85th minute to secure victory and confirm Medeama’s progress.
“It’s very important to go to the next round. Winning 3–1 against a strong team, I think they are behind us in the league table so definitely I’m very happy that we are going into the next stage,” Tanko said.
“All the players are ready. Each one can score at any time. In all the team is doing well and we are playing as a team and I’m very happy,” he added.
