Former Ghana U-17 coach Frimpong Manso has expressed strong confidence in the Black Starlets’ chances of qualifying for the 2025 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations as they gear up for the WAFU B U-17 Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.

Manso, now head coach of Bibiani GoldStars, came close to leading the Starlets to the continental showpiece in the past but stepped aside due to club commitments. He believes the current squad has both the talent and the mentality to reach the AFCON.

“I’m very sure, I’m very confident that they can get to the next stage, which is the AFCON. The boys are very talented, and for me, I don’t think we will falter this time,” he told Joy Sports.

He added: “Most of them are boys who are ready to learn, and that is how they can also grow in the game. Because if you want to learn, it means you want to play at the highest level.”

The Black Starlets held their second training session on Thursday as they continue preparations for the tournament. They open their campaign against Togo on September 20, before facing hosts Côte d’Ivoire on September 23 and wrapping up their group stage against Niger on September 26.
