Highly-rated coach Charles Kwabla Akonnor has commended the GFA's idea to hand Black Stars new coach Otto Addo a long term contract and has given reasons to that.

The 50-year-old has so much experience when it comes to the senior men national team having served as captain and head coach for the past years.

In an interview, the enterprising gaffer has lauded the idea of the Ghana FA to give the ex- Borussia Dortmund trainer a long term contract as he feels that will help him establish a good side in the near future.

"I think eventually finally the fact that they have given him a long term contract says it all," Akonnor said. "This is what we all hope for meaning that he will have time to prepare this team for a long time at least five years."

"He needs our support everybody must support him what he is done in the last two matches I think it is very hopeful it looks like the future is bright we need to support him and whatever he believes is wrong he believes is right we need to support him to do it."

The Black Stars just recently in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers redeemed themselves with two consecutive wins over Mali in Bamako and Central African Republic in Kumasi.

Charles Kwabla Akonnor after serving as the team's assistant coach under Kwesi Appiah, took over as the head coach for almost two years.
