Former Black Stars head coach, Charles Kwabla Akonnor has highlighted on some positives he picked in the Black Stars recent performances and is very confident the team has a great future under Otto Addo.

The 50-year-old has so much experience when it comes to the senior men national team having served as captain and head coach for the past years.

Speaking in an interview on Citi Sports, the ex- Kotoko coach said the Black Stars are looking much more improved this time especially in attack and is very optimistic they are in the better hands in the person of Otto Addo.  

"It is very hopeful I saw the match against Mali it is an away match the way we played was solid I was very happy with our attacking line the way we played soak them and attack counter-attack situation," he said.

"So it looks very hopeful the second match we saw our team score three goals I think it is been a while that we scored such goals three goals so we need to appreciate it.

"Of course, there are things coach he himself made mention of it they have to improve in that area and for a coach I understand and I think the future is hopeful,"

The Black Stars just recently in the 2026 FIFA World Cup redeemed themselves with two consecutive wins over Mali in Bamako and Central African Republic in Kumasi.

Charles Kwabla Akonnor after serving as the team's assistant coach under Kwesi Appiah, took over as the head coach for almost two years.
