Division One League side King Faisal FC have terminated their contract with head coach Barnabas Awuni following the club's uninspiring performances in the ongoing season's campaign.
The club's top hierarchy decided to relieve the experienced tactician from his role as the head coach of the Kumasi-based second-tier league outfit after a painful 1-0 home defeat to Swedru All Blacks United FC on Saturday.
The decision for the mutual contract termination comes after Barnabas Awuni failed to deliver the club's target of making it to the top four in the league before the end of the first round of the 2024/25 season.
Under Awuni's leadership, King Faisal amassed only 11 points from ten league matches, leaving the ‘Insha Allah' boys at 12th place on the log. He recorded two wins, five draws, and suffered three defeats.
Awuni was promoted from his role as assistant coach to head the King Faisal's technical team after Ignatius Osei-Fosu had left the club to join the Sudan national team.
King Faisal will travel to the Central Region next weekend to battle it out with in-form Ebusua Dwarfs in the match-week 11 fixture at the Robert Mensah Stadium.
