Former Ghana international Asamoah Gyan and some ex and current players over the weekend attended the final funeral rites of the mother of former Black Stars player Prince Tagoe.

Madam Joyce Tagoe, who died in Accra in November this year, aged 69, was described by the former Hearts of Oak marksman as a woman of strong conviction.

As a devout Christian, she was buried in line with Christian tradition.

Among the mourners were former Black Stars players Asamoah Gyan, Stephen Appiah, Sulley Muntari, Jerry Akaminko, Tony Baffoe, Sam Johnson, Kwadwo Asamoah, Jonathan Quartey, Richmond Boakye Yiadom and Isaac Vorsah.

Many of the mourners were in the prescribed dress code of black and white.

Prince Tagoe thanked his former colleagues and Ghanaians who commiserated with him during the period of mourning.

"Your words comforted us. Your support strengthened us. Your love sustained us. We extend our deepest gratitude to one and all for your presence, kindness, and blessings during our greatest sadness," he posted on social media.

"We appreciate it more than words can convey and your Goodness and Gracious expression of Sympathy will always be remembered in our hearts.

"Whether you kept us in your Thoughts, provided a Lovely Arrangement, made a Generous Donation, or helped us in your own blessed way, please know that your act of Love will always stay with us. Thank you. The Tagoes...!!
