Former Ghanaian international, Laryea Kingston has described Mohammed Salisu’s injury as a very blow and has added it will affect the Black Stars especially at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The lanky defender has suffered a serious knee injury and is set to miss the remainder of the ongoing season and also the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The 26-year-old picked the injury in AS Monaco’s 1-3 home loss to Olympique Lyon over the weekend in a thrilling round 17 clash of the French Ligue 1.
After assessment by AS Monaco doctors, the club have confirmed the lanky defender has tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and could miss the rest of the season.
In a recent interview, the ex- Black Stars wideman had this to say about the injury
“It’s a very big blow for us because he is an important figure at the back. When you talk about experienced players at our backline, I think if he is one of them then it’s really going to be a very big blow for us.”
Mohammed Salisu has made 18 matches in all competitions this season for the Red-Whites so far.
