Lucia Kendall early goal was enough to hand England a narrow 1-0 win over the Black Queens of Ghana in an international friendly game at St Mary’s Stadium. 

Coach Kim Lars maintained majority of his first team players in the line up notably captain Portia Boakye, goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan, Doris Boaduwaa, Grace Asantewaa, Chaney etc. Newbie Benedicte Simon was also handed her debut. 

It took England just six minutes from kickoff to open the scoring account courtesy Aston Villa midfielder Lucia Kendall who pounced on a lose clearance to struck into the lead. 

The Three Lionesses proved to be the best side of the game right from onset and made series of attempts on goal and could have led by three or four goals before half-time 

Goalkeeper Cynthia Findib Konlan proved she’s currently one of the best in the world with some crucial saves to prevent England so many situations. 

In the second half, both teams bounced back stronger but this time the Blacks Queens looked much better than half-time and made some early incursions looking for the leveller. 

Coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren tried to make some changes bt introducing the likes of Princella Adubea, Evelyn Badu, Stella Nyamekye and others but still conjured the magic to get back on level terms. 

The European champions later doubled their lead after Alessia Russo converted from spot-kick as it finished 2-0 in the end. 

The Black Queens have ended the year witg an impressive campaign and will regroup again in March next year to prepare for the next WAFCON which will serve us qualification to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
