Kim Lars Björkegren, head coach of the Black Queens, has heaped praises on his team despite defeat to England and added he is very proud of their performance. 

The Three Lionesses edged Ghana by a resounding 2-0 in a high profile friendly at the St. Mary’s Stadium in Southampton on Tuesday afternoon. 

It took the European only six minutes to open the scoring account through Aston Villa star Lucia Kendall before Arsenal’s Alessia Russo scored a late penalty to seal the win. 

Speaking in a post-match presser, the Swedish tactician says he is very proud for the performance put up by his team against the best in the world currently 

“As a coach, you always want to win. But we are 67th in the world and faced a team that may be the best in the world right now. We can be proud of our performance, and we feel we are moving in the right direction.” 

The Black Queens will regroup again in March next year for the 2026 WAFCON- which will serve as qualification to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
