Ghana defeated Ivory Coast in a third-place fixture of the ongoing WAFU U-17 Championship to clinch the bronze medal on Friday afternoon.
The two nations have missed out on the next edition of the Africa U17 Cup of Nations after losing to Burkina Faso and Nigeria in the semis of the tournament staged in Cape Coast.
The Black Starlets of Ghana wrapped up their campaign with a bronze medal after beating Ivory Coast 3-2 in the third-place game at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
The Ivorians took the lead through Yan Diomande who scored from the spot in the early minutes before Abdul Rashid Adams levelled the score from another spot-kick, few minutes after conceding.
The first half ended in a one-all draw as both teams scored from the spot.
Ghana took the lead before the hour-mark through Richard Apokum after making a good use of a low-cross delivered by Abdul Razak Adam on 58th minute.
Twenty minutes later, Aboubacar Meite Sidick headed a cross from a close range to make it 2-2 for Ivory Coast.
Substitute Abdul Razak Salim snatched the match-winner for the Black Starlets on the 92nd minute after heading a cross delivered into the 18-yard box of the Ivorians by Andrews Appiah.
Despite placing third, Ghana will not be part of the next edition of the Africa U17 Cup of Nations scheduled to be played in Algeria next year.
