Member of Parliament (MP) for Okaikwei Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah has urged the Black Stars to regain their former status in the FIFA ranking in spite of their overwhelming wins over Chad and Madagascar in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The Black Stars delivered an impressive performance in their home fixture against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium, securing a dominant 5-0 victory with a clean sheet. The team then traveled to face Madagascar in Morocco, where they continued their energetic form, clinching a 3-0 triumph while maintaining another clean sheet.
According to Boamah, judging by the current form of the Black Stars which is not a true reflection of their current standing in the FIFA ranking as they are currently ranked 77th in the world.
“The Black Stars are ranked 77th on the FIFA ranking, and that is not where we are supposed to be.
"If you know where we as a country want our national team to be, we want our national team to be at the levels that took us to the last eight in 2010. That is where we want our national team to be,” he said on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday.
Ghana will continue with their remaining World Cup qualifying matches scheduled to come off in September with decisive hurdles against Chad and Mali before necking-it-down with Central African Republic and Comoros.
