Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton has announced his final 27-man squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in an event held at Alisa Hotel in Accra.
The experienced gaffer released a provisional list of 55 players for the AFCON weeks ago of which he's now trimmed down to the final list.
Notable players like Kudus Mohammed, Jordan Ayew, captain Andre Ayew, Inaki Williams, Mohammed Salisu all made the list.
However, Thomas Partey shockingly was excluded despite recovering from his injury weeks ago so as Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.
Kotoko's Richmond Lamptey and Medeama SC duo of Abdul Fatawu Hamidu and Jonathan Sowah, are the only three home-based players to make the cut.
The Black Stars camp will be opened on Tuesday, January 2, in Kumasi where the team will be made to be away from the media and the public in order to get a peaceful environment to have themselves adequately prepared for the tournament.
Ghana will face the Brave Warriors of Namibia in a pre-tournament friendly on January 8, at the Baba Yara Stadium and that will be their last game before they jet off to Cote D'Ivoire for the main tournament.
Ghana have been housed in Group B alongside grand masters Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique.
The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations will begin on January 13, 2024, and the four-time champions will face the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde in their first game the next day in Abidjan.
