In this week’s edition of the performance of Ghanaian players abroad, our focus was mainly on how the twenty-four (24) invited Black Stars players fared for their respective clubs over the weekend.
Athletic Bilbao captain Inaki Williams has been withdrawn from the squad with injury and has been replaced with English-based Brandon Thomas-Asante.

In the Swiss Super League, Lawrence Ati-Zigi was in goal for FC ST Gallen who shockingly lost 1-2 at home to FC Thun.
Joseph Anang made the starting line up but wasn’t enough as his side St.Patrick’s suffered a 3-0 defeat away to Cork City in the Irish FAI Cup.
DEFENDERS
In the French Ligue 1, Alidu Seidu who is making a return into the squad after a long layout, lasted the entire duration for Stade Rennais in their pulsating 2-2 draw at Le Havre.
Caleb Yirenkyi excelled very well and was in the thick of things for FC Nordsjaelland in their emphatic 0-3 away win against Vejle.
Gideon Mensah lasted the entire duration for AJ Auxerre and was yellow carded in their 1-2 home loss to RC Lens in the French topflight.
Ebenezer Annan delivered an assist to propel AS Saint-Etienne to a resounding 0-2 away win over Montpellier at the Stade de la Mosson in the French Ligue 2.
Alexander Djiku didn’t really have an impressive game for Spartak Moscow who suffered a 3-2 loss away at CSKA Moscow in round 11 of the Russia Premier League.
It’s now two consecutive starts for Mohammed Salisu who had a very good game for AS Monaco in their 2-2 stalemate against OGC Nice.
In the same game, Kojo Peprah Oppong was introduced in the 38th minute for the visitors to replace injured Terem Moffi.
In the Turkish Super Lig, Jerome Opoku enjoyed full time action but wasn’t enough as his side Istanbul Basaksehir lost 1-0 away at Göztepe.
Jonas Adjei Adjetey was an unused substitute for FC Basel who won 0-3 against Servette away from home in the Swiss topflight.
MIDFIELDERS
Kwasi Sibo with his second consecutive invite to the Black Stars but watched on from the bench over the weekend as Real Oviedo suffered a 0-2 home loss to UD Levante in the Spanish La Liga.
Still in Spain, Thomas Partey played all minutes for Villarreal who lost 3-1 against giants Real Madrid at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
Elisha Owusu captained AJ Auxerre and enjoyed 76 minutes of action in their 1-2 home defeat to RC Lens.
Prince Owusu wasn’t in Medeama SC squad in their precious 2-1 win over Nations FC at the TnA Stadium in the Ghanaian topflight.
‘Starboy’ Kudus Mohammed was in the thick of affairs for Tottenham Hotspur having assisted and netted his first goal in their 1-2 away win at Leeds United.
ATTACKERS
Antoine Semenyo was in red-hot form for AFC Bournemouth in their emphatic 3-1 comeback win over Fulham in the Premier League.
Abdul Fatawu Issahaku scored a screamer in Leicester City’s 1-3 away win at Swansea City in the English Championship. Captain Jordan Ayew warmed the bench for the trumps.
Brandon Thomas-Asante, who replaced Inaki in the squad, had a three-goal involvements with a brace and assist to help Coventry City thrash Sheffield Wednesday by an emphatic 0-5 win away at Sheffield Wednesday.
In the Italian Serie A, Kamaldeen Sulemana was in action for Atalanta BC who got held by Como to a pulsating 1-1 draw last Saturday.
Christopher Bonsu Baah’s Al Qadsiah were not in action over the weekend but was last seen in action late last month when he played 45 minutes in their 0-1 away win against Al-Fateh in the Saudi Pro League.
In the United States, Joseph Paintsil captained Los Angeles Galaxy over the weekend in their 2-1 away loss against FC Dallas in the Major League Soccer.
