President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama has promised to attend the Black Stars crunch 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday.
Mahama was present at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday, March 19, to witness the teams training session and boost their morale as the Black Stars aim for a crucial victory to strengthen their position in the World Cup qualifying campaign.
Speaking ahead of the eagerly awaited clash, Mahama upholds his support for the national team and his readiness to personally witness the teams performance regardless of his personal concerns about watching intensive football matches.
“I’ll take time off and watch the game myself. Even though my heart is not very good at watching soccer, I will brave it. They say I should eat before I go and sit down. And my hope is that you would justify my sitting and watching you guys,” Mahama stated.
He reassured the team of the unwavering support of the entire nation, urging them to rise to the occasion and go for the win.
“The whole of Ghana is going to be behind you, and I’m sure that you can make it. So, I’ll encourage the GFA and the management committee. We’re gonna work closely together with you so that we can create the atmosphere for not only the Black Stars, but all the other junior teams to perform.”
Ghana will face Chad tonight (Friday) at Accra Sports Stadium before travelling to Morocco to take on Madagascar's Barea at the Mimoun Al Arsi Stadium in AI Hoceima, Morocco next Monday.
Tonight's match is scheduled to Kick-off at 19:00 GMT.
