Former Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton has heaped praises on current gaffer Otto Addo - whom he sees as the right person for the job and commended him immensely for qualifying the country to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. 

Hughton, 66, was with the Ghana senior national team for two years (2022-2024) where he started as Technical Advisor during the 2022 FIFA World Cup before subsequently taking over on full time basis and was in charge during the 2023 AFCON which was staged in Côte d’Ivoire. 

The four-time African champions sealed their spot to the next Mundial marking their fifth appearance after finishing as winners of Group I in the qualifiers. 

Speaking in an exclusive interview on TV3’s Sports Daily, the former Newcastle United and Brighton manager was full of praises for his successor Otto Addo stating he’s done incredibly well since he returned to the job 

“Otto Addo is a very good coach. He has now taken the team to two World Cups; not something many coaches do. He is a very good coach. As an individual, I like him a lot.”

The Black Stars are currently preparing to take on two Asian juggernauts Japan and South Korea in international friendlies in this November break
