Former Ghana Football Association presidential aspirant Amanda Clinton has endorsed Fernando Santos as her preferred candidate for the Black Stars head coach position.

Speaking in an interview with Citi Sports, Clinton described the experienced Portuguese tactician as the ideal man to take charge of Ghana’s senior national team following the exit of Otto Addo.

Santos is among several Portuguese coaches reportedly on the shortlist, with Sports Minister Kofi Adams confirming that a final decision is expected by Monday, April 13.

Clinton believes Santos’ strong record at both club and international level makes him the right candidate to restore the Black Stars’ success.

“The Black Stars will do very well if we get a good coach like Santos, who led Portugal to great success. If we have a good coach and the right people around the team, of course we can win,” she said.

Santos has an impressive résumé, having won the Portuguese league with FC Porto and guided Portugal to victory at UEFA Euro 2016 as well as the UEFA Nations League.
