There has been lots of rumours out there that there are serious issues over the Black Stars captaincy but one of the experienced guys in the squad now, Thomas Partey has lifted the lid stating it's all false
Partey, has been playing for the Ghana senior men national team since 2016 and has won over 50 appearances withing that period including four appearances at the Africa Cup of Nations and one at the FIFA World Cup
The 32-year-old was recently named the substantive captain early last year by coach Otto Addo when previous captain Andre Ayew was dropped but has also been relieved off his duties with Jordan Ayew leading on the pitch now
There were reports that the Arsenal midfielder informed the leaders he can't have the armband anymore due to reasons best known to himself but there were several rumours too in the local media giving reasons from unreliable sources
Speaking for the first time on this issue in an interview with 3Sports, the versatile midfield-anchor asserted that there has not been any issues surrounding the Black Stars captaincy and added the too many rumours in the media space is only from outside but has never existed in camp
"Personally I've never think of controlling or being the head of anything. I came to the Black Stars willingly. I want to be here because I have seen a lot of good players give everything for Ghana and enjoying.
"When we switch from one captain to the other, it has to be smooth. I don't know where the fight is coming from, I think it's from outside. In the team we don't talk about any player and captaincy.
"The problem is from outside not inside and then it becomes a problem for the coach because he gets asked about it, the player too gets asked. Inside there is nothing. Outside, everybody talks about it and it becomes problem."
Thomas Partey enjoyed a fantastic season with Arsenal with over 50 league appearances and seven-goal involvements hoping to an extended stay at the Emirates Stadium
