Ghana's head coach, Chris Hughton, has made the strategic decision to proceed with the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament without the services of midfield powerhouse Thomas Partey.

The Arsenal midfielder, grappling with a prolonged injury, finds himself excluded from the final Black Stars squad unveiled by the coach for the upcoming 2023 AFCON set to unfold in Ivory Coast.

Despite Thomas Partey's recent return to training, he is yet to attain peak fitness, raising uncertainties about his readiness for competitive play. Cognizant of this, Chris Hughton has chosen not to include Thomas Partey in the definitive squad for the 2023 AFCON.

In lieu of Partey, the midfield lineup comprises Abdul Salis Samid, Baba Iddrisu, Majeed Ashimeru, Elisha Owusu, and Richmond Lamptey, showcasing Hughton's confidence in their abilities.

A notable inclusion from the Ghana Premier League is Richmond Lamptey, accompanied by two players from Medeama SC – defender Abdul Hamidu Fatawu and striker Jonathan Sowah.

The Black Stars officially commence their camp tomorrow, stationed in Kumasi for rigorous preparations ahead of the 2023 AFCON.
